Gardener

The Gardener is the nickname of a Crusader of the South who reigned during the Age of Screaming Ghosts, so named for his apparent fondness for tending the palace gardens. He is thought to have reconciled many of the theological differences among groups within the Splinter Kingdom by adopting some degree of tolerance for differences in doctrine, while requiring dogmatic adherence to the tenets required for kingdom unity. These were formalized through the founding of several religious orders, of which six survive.

• The Order of Rose are theologians, dedicated to replicating in the mortal world the order believed inherent in the God Place. "As above, so below."

• The Order of Violets are skilled warriors, dedicated to the development of martial skills for the defense of the Kingdom's religious ideals. "Glory unto the gods."

• The Order of Chrysanthemums are ascetic contemplatives, who live simple lives and observe silence, even now. "..."

• The Order of Impatiens are mystics, dedicated to the pursuit of direct experiences of the divine during this life, and spiritual travel to the God Place.

• The Order of Freesia are calligraphers, dedicated to preserving spiritual knowledge in text.

• The Order of Begonia are dedicated to eradicating magic from the Kingdom, and are more commonly known as the Zealot Inquisitors.
